Save the Children is there
Save the Children has been working in the Middle East since 1949. Save the Children is one of the biggest NGOs in the area, and an independent organisation with ongoing programmes in both Gaza, the West Bank and Israel. During the outbreaks of violence, Save the Children’s staff in Gaza provided essential food parcels, blankets and shelter to children and families within 72 hours of the crisis. As of 10 March 2009 they have reached 82,554 people (including 46,230 children) with life saving food, water and healthcare, and provided four hospitals with medical equipment to treat injured and traumatised children.
